Twig has taught young children, developed curriculum, and worked for marine conservation for many years. Mother of two grown daughters, Rebecca and Caity, she lives in Cockeysville, Maryland with her husband, David Pittenger. David recently retired from the National Aquarium, in Baltimore. He worked there for over thirty years, and allowed Twig and her girls, to spend time in the company of many more species than they could ever have fit in their own house. At the moment, Twig and David have three pets including her mother’s African Grey parrot, Tocca, who likes to throw apple pieces for their dog, Piper, to catch.
Presently, Twig works at the Park School of Baltimore as the K-2 librarian. She infuses as much science and as many animal stories as possible, into the library curriculum.
Twig is also working to make the final edits on several books her mother wrote before she passed away in 2012.
